Speaking ahead of the blockbuster clash against his parent club Atletico Madrid, on-loan Barcelona forward Joao Felix has affirmed that he wishes to stay at the club beyond the current season.

Joao Felix arrived at Barcelona during the last summer window, joining from Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal.

After his struggles at the Civitas Metropolitano, the 24-year-old, whose market value stands at €50 million, has looked like a rejuvenated player in Catalonia, becoming a first-team regular under Xavi Hernandez.

Joao Felix wants to stay

As Barcelona get set to take on Atletico Madrid this Sunday night, all eyes are set to be on Joao Felix, given how things ended between him and the Spanish capital club.

A lot has already been said in the buildup to the encounter at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, with the Portuguese international hitting back at some of the claims made by players from the Atleti camp.

Now, Joao Felix has come out and stated that he would like to remain at Barcelona beyond the ongoing season, stating that he and his family feel happy in the Catalan capital.

Speaking to Movistar, he said: “I am happy here and my family is happy here.. I want to stay and well.. we will see in the future.”

Barcelona want to keep Felix

Joao Felix’s sentiments about a prolonged partnership with Barcelona are echoed by the club as well, who are already working out strategies to try and make his transfer permanent.

Only earlier today, reports emerged claiming that Barça would try and secure an agreement over his permanent transfer in January itself.

But negotiations are unlikely to be easy as Atletico Madrid are seeking €80 million for the forward, whereas Barcelona want to offer somewhere around €40 million and throw in a player as part of the operation.

It remains to be seen how things progress, but it is clear that both Barcelona and Joao Felix are in favour of a permanent transfer.
