There will be some top young talents on show in Serie A throughout the season.
We look at five of the best who are aged 21 or under for the start of the campaign.
Arriving as the most expensive player in Atalanta’s history means expectations are already high on Touré.
The €28m paid to Almería for the forward puts extra pressure on the 21-year-old who will be charged with filling Rasmus Højlund’s shoes after his move to Manchester United.
But there is reason to be confident he’ll be a fine replacement, having netted seven times in 21 LaLiga games last season, while also having five goals for Mali so far in his career.
The 18-year-old arrives at San Siro from Lazio on a free and has the potential to be a big low risk and high reward signing for the Rossoneri.
Romero, famed for his time in the Mallorca youth academy where he netted 230 goals in just over 100 games, was once the youngest debutant in LaLiga history and remains a huge talent.
Given his slight frame, dribbling abilities and being a left-footed Argentine, comparisons to Lionel Messi have been obvious and plentiful. Can he live up to the ‘Mini Messi’ moniker at Milan?
Teenage centre-back Scalvini is the latest potential superstar to emerge from Atalanta’s ever reliable production line.
A regular presence in Gian Piero Gasperini’s line-up, he has also already won four Italy caps and is regarded in the peninsula as the nation’s biggest defensive hope for the future.
Strong, a considerable aerial presence and possessing impeccable positioning, Scalvini is already a leader despite his youth and is set for a big season in cementing his reputation.
If the 21-year-old can stay fit, he is one of most exciting midfielders in Serie A and one who will unlikely remain at Torino for too much longer.
Ricci has already earned international recognition with two Azzurri caps and was a key player at the heart of the action last season for Ivan Jurić.
As a result of those displays, he has already been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid and Lazio but if he stays at the Granata, he is set to shine again.
José Mourinho has turned to youth several times for the Giallorossi and one of the main beneficiaries has been Bove.
The midfielder was one of the big individual success stories at the Stadio Olimpico last season and is already very popular among both fans and his coach – who labelled him a ‘sick dog’ due to his tigerish tenacity on the field.
He started 10 times in Serie A last season but expect that number to increase dramatically this season as he continues to improve.
