Thierno Barry leaves Spain for a new adventure in England. The Guinean-born player is now strengthening the African contingent at Everton.

Here are five things to know about the new Guinean Toffee.

  1. The 22-year-old striker was born in Lyon. This makes him eligible for both the French and Guinean national teams, and he has already played for the France U21 squad.
  • Trained at Toulon, he joined Sochaux in 2021 but was unable to break into the first team. Nevertheless, his performances with the reserves earned him a contract with SK Beveren.
  • After scoring 20 goals in 31 matches in the Belgian second division, he caught the eye of FC Basel scouts in Switzerland following just one season in Belgium.

  1. He was signed by FC Basel in 2023 for a fee of €3 million, scoring 14 goals and providing 5 assists in 38 appearances for the Swiss side.
  2. The Basel club sold him to Villarreal a year later for €14 million. His record with the Yellow Submarine stands at 9 goals and 3 assists in 29 matches.
