After the return of European football in midweek, it is time to turn our attention back to domestic matters with five fixtures to keep an eye on.
Following on from a weekend which was headlined by title deciders in Spain and Germany and ahead of one featuring an EFL Cup final and Superclásico, this does lack some of that star power.
Which is why we start in Wales and in League Two, where last season's fascinating National League promotion rivals Wrexham (you may be familiar with their 'Hollywood' story) and Notts County.
Ultimately, both sides were promoted after enjoying record-breaking campaigns but the intensity of that fight for the Football League has bred genuine animosity between the clubs and their rivalry will now be renewed at the Racecourse Ground.
Their feisty previous meeting this season ended with a 2-0 win for Wrexham on the road.
One of world football's biggest derbies takes centre stage in Scotland this weekend in the women's game.
The Glasgow enemies will face off at Ibrox where they hope to attract another huge crowd, with the Scottish women's domestic attendance record broken last season on three separate occasions - Celtic holding the record for the 15,822 they brought in at Parkhead on the final weekend.
As has so often been the case in the men's game, it isn't just city bragging rights on the line but major title implications too with unbeaten Rangers holding a four-point lead over their rivals as they aim to wrest the title back from Glasgow City.
For the Ghirls in Green, they are chasing a first ever championship but have not been helped by manager Fran Alonso's departure and will be hoping new boss Elena Sadiku can propel them back into contention. Failure to win could see the title all but decided on Sunday.
Another fixture with local bragging rights at stake in the city of Madrid, it could be one which definitively kills off any title race in LaLiga, or offer fresh hope to Girona.
They were left in no doubt as to who Spain's top dogs were last weekend in their 4-0 humiliation at the Santiago Bernabéu which moved Los Blancos five points clear at the top.
But Jude Bellingham became the latest injury casualty in that one (joining Thibaut Courtois and every senior centre-back on the books) before his replacement Brahim Díaz joined him on the treatment table after scoring against Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The problems for Carlo Ancelotti are piling up but if they can navigate this one despite all of those fitness issues, Girona face a very tough trip to San Mamés on Monday that could prove decisive in the destination of LaLiga: which looks increasingly like being the familiar surroundings of the Bernabéu.
It isn't just the women's game in Scotland which boasts a huge top-of-the-table clash with a blockbuster showdown taking place in the WSL between champions Chelsea and Manchester City.
Emma Hayes' side are three points clear of the Cityzens ahead of welcoming them under the lights at Kingsmeadow on Friday night where they could open up a sizeable gap over their closest challengers - or be drawn deeper into a fascinating title race.
There is extra incentive for the hosts to deliver a fifth straight league crown to send Hayes off to America in style but City sent out a timely reminder of their qualities last weekend ahead of this one.
While Chelsea toiled to a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup thanks to a glorious first goal for the club from record signing Mayra Ramírez, City saw off Arsenal in impressive fashion to tee this one up perfectly. Can they make it two from two in the capital?
It isn't just in the WSL where these clubs face off this weekend as on Sunday in the Premier League, the champions welcome Chelsea to the Etihad.
The Blues have been unimpressive so far this season but two late goals last Monday alleviated some of the pressure increasing on Mauricio Pochettino ahead of their visit to Pep Guardiola's side, who were victorious in midweek in the Champions League but have been left counting the cost of that victory with a trio of fresh injuries.
City have won six of their last eight home league games against Chelsea, who have failed to score in five of those win and Guardiola has more wins over his Argentine colleague than any other coach.
The previous meeting between the sides this season saw former City man Cole Palmer star in a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge. More of the same please.
