Marseille v Monaco

It's a Côte d'Azur derby on Saturday evening as Gennaro Gattuso's Marseille host a Monaco side who are very much in contention for a top three finish this term.

OM may not have lost in Ligue 1 since the start of November but there's a sense of unease around them this season with off-field issues clouding their relative climb up the table.

The Velodrome side have been beset with ownership problems and match abandonments and now host Adi Hütter's inconsistent Monegasque's.

The visitors were impressive in the first half of the season but since Christmas were humbled at home to Reims and struggled in their Coupe clash with Reims.

This should be a fascinating encounter.

Liverpool v Norwich

An otherwise middling FA Cup encounter took on a new meaning on Friday.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp shocked everyone yesterday by confirming that he will be leaving Anfield at the end of the season and the outpouring of love for the German tactician on Sunday should be something to behold.

The Reds host Norwich in their fourth round clash with the Kop bound to be on even better form after the historic news.

On the pitch, the home side will no doubt be desperate to extend their Cup run for the boss, if nothing else.

David Wagner's men meanwhile are currently eighth in the Championship having lost two and drawn one of their last five games.

Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Monchengladbach

It seems that every week we include a Bayer Leverkusen game on this list and yet every week Bayer Leverkusen games continue to deliver.

Last time out Xabi Alonso's side needed a stoppage time strike to beat RB Leipzig 3-2, repeating their trick from the weekend before against Augsburg.

Late goals are a good habit to be in but the Werkself will surely be hoping they don't need 'Fergie Time' against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Gladbach are currently 12th in the Bundesliga having won just five games all season long.

Only bottom side Darmstadt have conceded more than Gladbach's 38 this term, so whatever happens there should be goals in this one.

Fiorentina v Inter

Sunday night sees an absolute barn-burner of a game in Serie A between the teams in fourth and second in the table.

Fiorentina host Inter in what's guaranteed to be one of the games of the season so far in the Italian top-flight.

A win will see Nerazzurri reclaim their place at the top of the table, fresh off the back of claiming victory in the Supercoppa Italian final last weekend.

Striker Lautaro Martinez is arguably in the form of his life right now having scored the winner in that match against Napoli whilst also bagging 18 in 18 league matches.

The Viola meanwhile have hit a slight road block in the past couple weeks, dropping points against Udinese and Sassuolo in their last couple of domestic fixtures.

The reverse fixture between these two saw Inter run out 4-0 winners and although a repeat seems unlikely, goals will almost certainly be on the cards.

West Brom v Wolves

West Brom v Wolves may not be at the top of most fans' 'fiercest derbies' list but try telling that to the good people of the Black Country.

Whenever the Baggies take on the Molienux outfit sparks inevitably fly, and this weekend will that will happen in front of supporters for the first time in over a decade.

The last time these two sides met with fans present, London had just hosted the Olympics Games and Jude Bellingham was eight-years-old.

The coronavirus pandemic robbed us of plenty of things, including a Black Country derby in 2021/22.

"This isn't just any other game," John Homer, a West Brom season ticket holder since 1976, told the BBC. "This is about glory - and shame and humiliation."

West Brom come into the clash having endured a mixed time of it over the past four weeks, winning against Blackburn and Leeds but losing at Swansea and Norwich.

Gary O'Neil's side meanwhile haven't lost since December 17 but looked like they might have run out of gas during their turgid goalless draw with Brighton on Monday.
