Despite a decent end to the season, Swansea City know there's a lot of work to be done in the summer if they're to be more competitive next year.

The Swans haven't been at their best this season, but under manager Luke Williams, there's hope that the club can kick on next season and target the Championship play-off places.

Williams replaced Michael Duff at the turn of the year, and has helped steer the club away from danger, but Swansea are going to have to recruit far better this summer if they're to move up the table next season.

Swansea's 2023 summer business was poor, and minus a couple of players, the majority have struggled to make an impact in south Wales.

With that in mind, here are five players Swansea should have on their transfer radar this summer.

Viktor Johansson

Swansea's goalkeeper Carl Rushworth is set to return to parent club Brighton this summer after an impressive spell with the club, and he will certainly need replacing.

Rotherham United's Viktor Johansson has been a standout player for the Millers this season despite their relegation, and he's attracted plenty of transfer interest. Swansea should certainly be interested in signing the Swedish international this summer, and could guarantee him a starting place.

Johansson could be a long-term option between the sticks for Swansea City, and a new goalkeeper is certainly needed this summer.

Paddy McNair

Middlesbrough centre-back Paddy McNair is set to leave the club this summer as a free agent, and he would be a good signing on a free for plenty of Championship clubs, Swansea included.

The Swans could do with defensive reinforcements with doubts over Nathan Wood's future at the club, and signing someone with McNair's quality and experience would certainly strengthen them at the back.

McNair, who has 49 caps for Northern Ireland, would be competing for a place in Swansea's starting XI with Harry Darling and Ben Cabango, but would add some much-needed experience and strength in depth.

Marc Leonard

Brighton midfielder Marc Leonard has spent the last two seasons on loan at Northampton Town, and has been mightily impressive for the Cobblers.

So much so, that it seems the perfect time to take the next step in his career, which would be a move to the Championship. With doubts over Liam Walsh and Joe Allen's future in SA1, Leonard could be a perfect summer addition, and would help to freshen up Swansea's midfield.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs, including Swansea, and would be a great signing whether it be on loan or permanent. Given Carl Rushworth's success on loan at the Swans from Brighton this season, perhaps the Seagulls could be tempted to loan another one of their young prospects to the club.

Koji Miyoshi

Birmingham City attacking midfielder Koji Miyoshi has just one year left on his deal at St Andrew's, and the club may look to cash in on him after a decent first season at the club.

The Japanese international has been one of his side's better players this season, and Swansea are in need of someone with a creative spark, particularly as doubts remain over whether talisman Jamie Paterson will be at the Swansea.com Stadium next season.

With just a year left on his deal, the five-cap Japan international could be available on a cut-price deal, and he's someone Swansea should be monitoring if Paterson leaves the club.

Tyrese Campbell

24-year-old Stoke striker Tyrese Campbell is out of contract with the Potters this summer, and would make a decent signing for Swansea, who are in desperate need of a striker this summer.

The Swans have Jerry Yates, Mykola Kukharerevych and Liam Cullen as their current striker options, but the trio certainly aren't prolific in front of goal, and it would be a huge surprise if Swansea started the 2024/25 season with all three still on their books.

Campbell hasn't been great for Stoke this season, but he's shown in the past that he can be a good player at this level, and at 24 he's still got his best years ahead of him.
