With Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham stealing the spotlight this season – who are the future stars of tomorrow?
We’ve highlighted five young prospects who clubs across Europe should be looking at …
Age: 21
Club: Southampton
It’s been a difficult season for Southampton who were relegated after finishing bottom of the Premier League, although there were some shining lights.
Armel Bella-Kotchap was a standout performer for the Saints, displaying aggression, ball-playing ability and a strong sense for reading the game from defence.
Age: 19
Club: AZ Alkmaar
In the modern game, full backs are effectively midfielders or forwards and Milos Kerkez is already making a name for himself in the Eredivisie.
With 10 goal contributions (6 goals, 4 assists) in all competitions this season, the attack-minded teenager is being heavily courted by Benfica.
Age: 19
Club: Bristol City
The Championship is often considered a ruthless, physical league in which young players struggle to thrive – Alex Scott has bucked that trend this season.
With quick feet, immaculate technique and an effortless ability to dribble away from pressure, his consistency for Bristol City has earned him many plaudits.
Age: 19
Club: FC Nordsjælland
FC Nordsjælland – through their links with Right to Dream Academy – have moulded some incredible Ghanaian talent in Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Ernest Nuamah is next on that list after enjoying a breakthrough season in Denmark, with blistering pace and finishing ability all on display with 18 goal contributions.
Age: 20
Club: KRC Genk
After scoring 18 goals in 23 games for Stabæk in the Norwegian second tier, Gift Orban has certainly lived up to his name after joining KAA Gent in January.
The pocket-rocket striker is already being linked with clubs in top European leagues and after scoring 20 goals in 20 appearances in Belgium – it’s easy to understand why.
