A run of one win in nine games has seen Unai Emery given the boot at Arsenal.
But who could come in and replace the Spaniard in north London?
Here are our top five candidates …
Despite his lack of senior experience (and a miserable short spell at Wolfsburg), Ljungberg feels the most likely short-term fix.
The former Under-23 coach was promoted to first-team assistant this summer and is reportedly highly rated at the club.
Bukayo Saka, Joe Willock and other academy graduates have spoken glowingly of him, while his link to the fans could prove crucial in improving the mood.
That’s right. We’re going there.
Pochettino spent five-and-a-half successful – if trophyless – years at fierce rivals Tottenham and proved his credentials after challenging for the title and Champions League.
He improves young players, his passion shines through and more importantly, he knows how to organise a defence. Sol Campbell 2.0 needed.
Despite being snubbed last minute for the job Emery eventually got, Arteta still deserves consideration 18 months later.
He lacks experience as a senior manager but is held in high regard by Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City squad and even former team-mates from his playing days.
The Spaniard understood what playing for Arsenal meant and helped guide them through a difficult transition period – he could be perfect for that job again.
Not an obvious fit but one that would certainly provide pragmatism, tactical acumen and stability.
Allegri did a great job with Milan, before taking Juventus and his own career to new heights during his five years in Turin.
Five Serie A titles, four Supercoppa Italiana triumphs and oh so close to securing the Champions League. He knows his stuff.
Not the Bundesliga coach many were expecting on this list – but an exciting one all the same.
Rose joined Borussia Mönchengladbach from RB Salzburg this summer, and has them top of the Bundesliga after 12 matchdays.
His side play an exciting brand of attacking football, their transfer business was intelligent (cc: Stefan Lainer and Marcus Thuram) and at 42 would be the perfect ‘project manager’.
