Naby Keita will reportedly leave Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer.

The 27-year-old arrived at Anfield in 2018 in a £48 million deal from RB Leipzig. He was expected to be a big success but the midfielder has failed to meet expectations at the Merseyside outfit.

After making 33 appearances across all competitions in his first season, the Guinean footballer has struggled with several fitness issues and inconsistent performances over the following years.

He has made 127 senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side so far, registering 11 goals and contributing seven assists.

Keita has started only two Premier League matches this season, with a hamstring injury keeping him sidelined for the majority of this campaign.

His current contract at Anfield is set to run out in the summer but Liverpool are reportedly unlikely to hand him a new deal.

This is according to Sky Sports Germany who claim the player is on the verge of leaving the Reds. Many clubs are said to be interested in signing him but the midfielder will not join Galatasaray.

Best for both parties

Keita failed to make a big impact at Liverpool after they splashed a huge sum to secure his services in 2018.

He is unlikely to be missed by many of the Reds’ fans if he leaves in the summer.

The Merseyside giants will be disappointed to let him leave without receiving any transfer fee. But the move will help free up a significant chunk of the wage bill.

As a Keita, he could make a fresh start at another club next season. Maybe he is more suited to certain other European leagues which are not that physically demanding as the Premier League.
