A look at some top-flight players who could make the move to Ewood Park this summer
It has been a frustrating summer transfer window so far for those connected with Blackburn Rovers.
Despite a need for signings to strengthen a squad that only narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship at the end of last season, things have so far been relatively quiet in terms of incomings.
However, things now look as though they may be starting to move, as the pressure builds at Ewood Park to give John Eustace a squad that can be competitive this season.
One area that Blackburn may want to explore as they look for potential signings is the Premier League, given they have had success with several loanees from the top-flight in recent years.
So with that in mind, we've taken a look at four Premier League players Blackburn Rovers should be looking into signing this summer, right here.
With Joe Rankin-Costello looking as though he will more likely be used in his more natural central-midfield role under Eustace, there is a lack of cover for Callum Brittain on the right of defence.
That may therefore be an area that Rovers need to strengthen this summer, and Kaine Kesler-Hayden could be an option worth considering to fill that role.
The 21-year-old has already made a handful of appearances for Aston Villa that demonstrate his pedigree, while he also has experience of the Championship under his belt from loan spells with Huddersfield Town and Plymouth Argyle.
As a result, he could be a solid option for Blackburn, who had another Villa youngster, Ben Chrisene, on loan in the second-half of last season, which could also help their cause when it comes to trying to get a potential deal done here.
With Scott Wharton set to miss much of the season due to injury, and Kyle McFadzean looking unlikely to extend his contract, Rovers likely need to sign more than one centre-back this summer.
Consequently, it could be argued that they should have an eye on the situation surrounding Will Fish at Manchester United.
The 21-year-old has never quite made the grade at Old Trafford, but has got experience of high level football under his belt from loan spells at Hibernian.
One Premier League player already linked with a move to Ewood Park this summer that the club should be looking to sign, is Franco Umeh-Chibueze.
The young Crystal Palace winger has caught the eye while playing at youth level for the Eagles, and may not be ready for a chance to impress in senior football.
Injury issues around Ryan Hedges' and Arnor Sigurdsson, as well as Dilan Markanday's struggle for consistent form, means that Blackburn look as though they do need depth out wide, so the signing of Umeh-Chibueze would potentially be a useful one.
The links between the two clubs established by Adam Wharton's hugely successful move from Lancashire to Palace earlier this year, also mean this is a deal that Rovers ought to be able to negotiate some sort of agreement over.
After several unsuccessful signings in the position in recent years, it is clear that a centre-forward once again has to be at the very top of the list of priorities for Blackburn this summer.
With the circumstances that are beginning to develop, one option from the Premier League who is surely worth looking into for those at Ewood Park, is Ali Al-Hamadi.
The striker only joined Ipswich Town from AFC Wimbledon back in the January transfer window, before helping the club win promotion to the Premier League in the second-half of the season.
That step-up would be a big one for him so soon, meaning he could benefit from a loan move back to the Championship for the current campaign. Given the Tractor Boys are now being heavily linked with Blackburn talisman Sammie Szmodics, some form of swap deal that sees Al-Hamadi move to Ewood Park, at least temporarily, could be a sensible one for all involved to agree on.
