4 in 4. This was the first thing Rangers fans said about Antonio Colak in response to our recent post about 3 in 3 and his goal v PSV.

And given the Croat’s extraordinary start to life at Ibrox, it’s no wonder so many supporters have had their cynical heads turned by his goal spurt, which is the best any new Rangers striker has done probably since the days of Marco Negri.

The notable part of last night was how difficult his goal was, and while Tav put the opening on a plate for him, he had to beat the goalie at a fairly acute angle with power and precision.

We’ll be honest, we’re not sure we’d have trusted Alfie to finish that one so clinically.

And that’s the difference having a ruthless striker has made.

Colak has nailed them with his head, with his foot – he is lapping up chances like they’re going out of fashion, and is winning over so many of his doubters.

Not all – one gentleman, who told us the striker was poor and ‘wouldn’t have a sniff against a decent side’ was still unmoved when proven wrong. This kind of mentality cannot be reasoned with.

But the majority see the hitman Ibrox Noise promised you.

It wasn’t a fluke that Colak was so clinical against us, and it’s never been a fluke that he’s been so clinical in his whole career.

Remember, this is a 9 with a near one in two record.

We didn’t sign him because he put us out, we signed him because he’s one of the most underrated strikers in world football.

His performances for Malmo last year in the group were wasted – he did pretty well and far from disgraced himself, managing a few shots for a side who spent most of their campaign being destroyed.

But when we look at his career goal tally, it’s remarkable how few clubs have been interested in him.

We’re not calling Colak world class, let’s not be silly – but sometimes some outstanding strikers do get completely overlooked, and Colak is clearly one of those.

But PAOK and he didn’t fit, and their loss is our gain.

He’s played 6 matches and scored 4 goals (including two in the CL), 5 if officiating had been better.

Not bad for £2M.
