After missing out on promotion via the play-offs earlier this year, it was always going to be interesting to see how Mansfield Town would respond to this setback during the opening stages of the current campaign.
Under the guidance of manager Nigel Clough, the Stags have made an incredibly promising start to the new term in League Two.
Having won eight of the 13 league games that they have participated in this season, Mansfield will unquestionably fancy their chances of launching another push for promotion.
Currently fourth in the League Two standings, Mansfield are set to face Crawley Town this weekend.
Ahead of the Stags’ trip to the Broadfield Stadium, we have decided to take a look at how their squad market value compares to other fourth-tier sides using data gathered from Transfermarkt.
According to Transfermarkt, Mansfield currently have a squad market value of £3.71m.
James Perch has the highest valuation at the club (£720k) whilst his midfielder Stephen Quinn is second on this particular list (£540k).
Loans players are also included in this list as Christy Pym (£270k) has the fourth joint-highest value alongside Lucas Akins who joined Mansfield on a permanent deal earlier this year.
Compared to the rest of League Two, the Stags are sixth in the standings when it comes to squad market value.
Crewe Alexandra (£3.51m), who were relegated from the third-tier earlier this year, are one place below Mansfield while Swindon Town are directly above Clough’s side in this table (£3.83m).

Salford City lead the way in this division as they have a squad market value of £6.93m.
When it comes to the official league standings, the Ammies are only seventh in the table.
In terms of the opposite end to the table, Stockport County currently have the lowest squad market value (£765k).
This valuation is likely to be impacted by the fact that Stockport were participating in the National League last season.
With the transfer window set to open in January, clubs in League Two will be handed the opportunity to boost their squad market values as they are free to purchase or loan in players.
