Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has completed a major turnaround in form despite question marks remaining over his position at the club.

The legendary Norwegian oversaw a good win over Istanbul Basaksehir as his side took a good step forward in their bid to qualify for the next round.

United overcame their Turkish opponents 4-1 thanks to a brace by Bruno Fernandes and a goal from Marcus Rashford and Daniel James apiece.

Most of the good performance came in the first half and Solskjaer would’ve been disappointed with the second as his side gave Istanbul some hope.

Nonetheless, the early season mess seems to have been somewhat sorted out and the Red Devils could be on their way to enjoying a better season according to the statistics.

The statistics are seriously encouraging but the problem is for Manchester United fans that there have been too many false dawns in the past.

Even in Solskjaer’s era, there have been two major runs of form but before and after them were some genuinely concerning performances and inconsistencies.

Even if the former Molde man leads his team over the coming festive period well, questions will remain over the issues with consistency the squad seems to struggle with.
