Things are moving fast for Chelsea today.
Just a few hours ago we heard the opening report from Fabrizio Romano that the Blues are interested in Cole Palmer, the talented Man City attacking midfielder who isn’t currently getting any playing time for Pep Guardiola’s team.
We’ve already had two follow up stories, full of interesting details. Matt Law in the Telegraph says that the interest in being driven by Joe Shields, who worked with Palmer at City and joined Chelsea as a recruitment chief a year ago.
Meanwhile Jacob Steinberg in the Guardian claims that the Blues have already had a £35m bid rejected, indicating that things may have advanced a lot further than just “interest.”
He does seem to fit the profile of the type of players we’re looking to buy, but it’s perhaps a stretch to call him “Premier League experienced” – he has just 489 minutes in total, despite being in the first team squad for 2 seasons.
Update: Nizaar Kinsella is now reporting that Man City want £50m for Palmer, and that a deal could be settled at around £45m.
