Transfer News: Jerome Boateng wants Manchester United move

According to transfer news from Express, Jerome Boateng is keen on a move to Manchester United. The German defender is currently a free agent after his contract at Bayern Munich expired. However, he is said to be considering a ‘dream’ move to United.

It has been a long time since Manchester United have boasted of such depth and quality in central defence. The addition of Raphael Varane means that Harry Maguire now has an able partner in the heart of the backline. The duo is expected to be the club’s first-choice pairing when available.

Moreover, United have two equally capable defenders in Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly to cover for them in case of injury. Let’s not forget that Phil Jones is set to return from an extensive layoff. However, United do not seem to be done signing central defenders.

Amidst this, veteran free agent Jerome Boateng has put his name in the ring. The 32-year-old German is keen on a move to a Champions League club after leaving Bayern and Old Trafford is said to be the dream move that he wants. Although, United’s interest in the player is unknown at this point.

The free-agent status of Boateng does make him an appealing option for United. There is also his experience of winning a plethora of trophies but the fact remains that he is close to 33 years of age and not exactly safe from injuries. A short-term deal might be good for all involved.
