In a few weeks’ time, Martin Braithwaite will be completing two years at Barcelona.

The 30-year-old was brought in as an emergency signing from Leganes after the Catalan camp had been struck down with injuries in attack. The decision to shell out €20 million to sign the Dane was not a popular decision among the fans.

However, over time, the versatile striker has managed to win over some sections of the supporters due to his work ethic and commitment to the team. Braithwaite started the new season on a strong note, bagging two goals in three games, before injury struck him down.

Yet to return to action, the Denmark international’s future at Camp Nou has become a topic of speculation as Barça look to trim down their wage bill and generate funds.

Luuk de Jong has turned things around admirably, while the emergence of youngsters like Ferran Jutgla and Ez Abde, coupled with the signing of Ferran Torres, gives Xavi pleny of options in attack. Not to mention that the Catalan giants are still searching for another No. 9.

As a result, offers for Braithwaite will be entertained by Joan Laporta & co. AS Roma, for one, have emerged as his strongest suitors, as manager Jose Mourinho is intent on adding the ex-Middlesbrough forward to the ranks at Stadio Olimpico.

However, as per El Nacional, the 30-year-old striker has rejected a chance to move to Italy. It is claimed that Braithwaite wants to stay put at Camp Nou and fight for a spot in Xavi’s side. He is believed to be happy at the club and is intent on honouring his contract.

Apart from Roma, both West Ham United and Olympique Marseille are also interested. However, the Danish ace will turn down those clubs too, as he is firmly of the belief that he can be a valuable member of the team under Xavi. The report states that he would consider leaving only at the end of the season.
