Birmingham City opted to engage in a great deal of transfer activity during the previous window as head coach John Eustace opted to stamp his own authority on the club’s squad.
As well parting ways with a number of players, the Blues made eight signings.
John Ruddy and Tahith Chong both sealed permanent moves to St Andrew’s whilst Hannibal Mejbri, Krystian Bielik, Auston Trusty, Przemyslaw Placheta, Dion Sanderson and Emmanuel Longolo all joined Birmingham on loan.
Whereas Birmingham were successful in terms of these aforementioned pursuits, not every player that was linked with the club this summer ended up making a move to the Championship outfit.
Here, we have decided to take a look at three transfer rumours involving the Blues that ultimately failed to materialise…
Josh Maja
Journalist Fabrizio Romano last month suggested that Birmingham had submitted a bid for Josh Maja who was expected to sign a five-year deal.
This particular report turned out to be wide of the mark as it later emerged that Maja’s club Bordeaux had not received any offers from the Blues.

Naby Sarr
A report from Football Insider in July suggested that Birmingham had entered a race with Huddersfield Town and Kaiserslautern for Naby Sarr’s signature.
Sarr was on the lookout for a new club following his departure from Huddersfield Town.
Since making the switch to the Select Car Leasing Stadium, the defender has featured on two occasions for the Royals in the Championship.
Jason Knight
Another player who was touted as a potential target for the Blues was Derby County midfielder Jason Knight.
A report from Football Insider in July suggested that Birmingham were plotting a move to sign the Republic of Ireland international from the Rams.

This move ultimately didn’t materialise as Knight stayed at Derby.
Despite the fact that he has been deployed predominantly as a midfielder during his career, Knight is currently featuring as a right-back due to the fact that the Rams are relatively short of options in this position.
During the current campaign, the 21-year-old has made seven appearances in League One whilst he has also represented Derby in the EFL Trophy and the League Cup.
