With England (the team) no longer boasting Ellen White up front and missing Beth Mead through injury, there will be a chance for someone to step up this summer.

Should England (the player) get the nod, Sarina Wiegman will have plumped for someone who knows where the goal is.

England’s chances at international level have been sporadic, especially in recent years. She was in the squad for last summer’s Euros but was one of just three outfield players not to get on the pitch.

Her 2022/23 then started slowly too at Chelsea but, following a domestic record transfer worth £250k in January, she has shone for Tottenham, scoring 12 goals in 12 WSL appearances for her new club.

With eight goals in eight appearances in qualifying for this tournament, she will surely get a shot at proving her worth this time around.

Rosella Ayane (Morocco)

Born in England to a Moroccan father and a Scottish mother, Rosella Ayane had a few potential paths to choose from when it came to her international career.

She made her Morocco debut in 2021 and hasn’t looked back.

A regular for Tottenham, Ayane is often tasked with playing wide, tracking back defensively, carrying the ball upfield and creating at club level.

But for Morocco she plays up front, running the channels, offering a threat in behind, and truly mixing goal threat with her unselfish streak. She may have just three goals in 59 WSL appearances for Spurs but has netted nine times in 19 games for her country, including a goal in the final as Morocco narrowly missed out on African Cup of Nations glory last year.

Drew Spence (Jamaica)

A five-time WSL winner with Chelsea, what do you mean Drew Spence only has seven international caps?

Well, after two England appearances way back in 2015, the midfielder switched to represent Jamaica just last year.

The 30-year-old offers a wealth experience to go with the quality and energy she provides in midfield and will be absolutely crucial to the Reggae Girlz if they are to pull any surprises Down Under.
