The Serie A is filled with some of the best footballing talent the world has to offer, and with the transfer window set to open officially in just over two weeks, there will be lots of incoming and outgoings from the Italian top flight.
Man City have already snatched up arguably the best midfielder in the league, wasting no time in signing Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan for a reported fee of £46.6 million, even though Rodri has returned from the ACL tear that ruled him out for 90% of last season.
It’s unlikely Reijnders will be the only one making the move from Italy to England this summer. Here are three players we believe would work well in the Premier League and which clubs they could potentially join.
There will be plenty of sides looking for a goalkeeper this summer; they won’t get much better than Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. Brother of midfielder Sergej, who was consistently linked with a move to Man United before ultimately joining Al-Hilal, Vanja may end up making the move instead.
Last season was the best of his career, keeping ten clean sheets and 42 goals across his 37 Serie A games for Torino. The 28-year-old is also a penalty specialist, saving four of the seven he faced in the league throughout 2024-25.
Linking Milinkovic-Savic to Man United feels derivative, but it would make a lot of sense. Andre Onana is a little too prone to the odd mistake, making three errors leading to a goal last season. Aston Villa would also make a lot of sense, especially if Emi Martinez does leave as expected.
It was another memorable season for Bologna. They didn’t qualify for the Champions League like they did under Thiago Motta, finishing down in ninth, but they did secure Europa League football with a 1-0 win over AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final.
Beukema, 26, played a key role for Vincenzo Italiano’s side throughout the season, playing 47 games across all competitions, popping up with two assists along the way. As a result, he has been linked with Chelsea, according to Get Italian Football Now.
The centre-back has spoken of his fondness for United and his relationship with Joshua Zirkzee, but we don’t think that’s where he would fit in. Arne Slot’s side failed in their bid to sign Dean Huijsen, so they’re clearly interested in signing someone in that position. With Ibrahima Konate set to enter the last year of his contract and no signs of a new one, they would be the best fit for Beukema.
The Portuguese forward has been a big fish in a small pond for quite some time now. Could this finally be the year he leaves AC Milan for the Premier League?! The left wing appears to be a position plenty of the Premier League elite sides are looking to bolster; they won’t get much better than Leao.
He won’t come cheap; throughout his time in Milan, he’s been valued at well over £100 million, but following their failure to qualify for any form of European football next season, they may be forced to sell in order to balance the books.
At 26 years old, he’s reached the perfect age to take that next step. Chelsea are looking at a new left-winger, but we reckon Arsenal would be a much better fit. Leao is the type of player who could finally take them to the next level and is a huge upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli.
