Georginio Wijnaldum left Liverpool on a free transfer this summer, eventually being picked up by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Dutch international spent five years at Anfield, winning both the Premier League and Champions League following his £25 million move from Newcastle United in 2016.

In order for us to get back among the Premier League title challengers next season you can expect a couple of new faces to arrive on Merseyside. The bookmakers already have us as second favourites, albeit as long as 5/1, which can be backed with one of these Genting Bet sign up offers.

Wijnaldum’s departure leaves Jurgen Klopp looking for a replacement to join Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner and Curtis job as central midfielders in the squad.

Here are three possible replacements:

Lorenzo Pellegrini

The Italian international has been doing a lot in the AS Roma midfield over the past couple of seasons – chipping in with goals, assists and a handful of yellow cards. Lorenzo Pellegrini looks set to leave the Italian capital this summer though as they failed to qualify for the Champions League once again.

FC Barcelona and ourselves are both being strongly linked. The Spanish side likely because PSG beat them to Wijnaldum.

It has been reported that the 24-year-old has a €30 million release clause in his contract, which is very reasonable in today’s market.

Youri Tielemans

The young Belgian is coming off another excellent season with Leicester City, who bottled a Champions League finish for a second campaign running. However, Youri Tielemans did fire them to their first-ever FA Cup success.

Whether the 24-year-old now feels he has done all he can at the King Power Stadium and want to play for one of Europe’s elite next season remains to be seen. There won’t be no shortage of offers having proven himself in the Premier League.

Tielemans is also part of the Belgium squad at this summer’s European Championships, heading into the tournament as the bookmakers’ third favourites. He would certainly be an excellent addition to our team, but you have to imagine the Foxes will want a substantial fee, just as what they have got for Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell in recent years.

Saul Niguez

The 26-year-old is coming off another excellent season where he won his second Spanish La Liga title for the club, he has spent his entire career with to date.

Saul is a possession man in midfield, who doesn’t get many assists next to his name, and even fewer goals. Perhaps the most similar on this list to Gini Wijnaldum in that sense.

Reports is Spain claim the central midfielder is ‘determined’ to leave Wanda Metropolitano Stadium this summer. After all, he’s effectively won all he can with the club and still only has 16 caps to his name.

Saul has previously been linked to Manchester United and you can be sure a number of clubs would make an offer if he is indeed available between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
