There could be several departures from Ewood Park at the turn of the year

Frankly, it is hard to know at this moment in time exactly who might leave Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window.

While the squad available to head coach John Eustace is not short on depth, nor is it stacked with options either.

As a result, the Ewood Park club will have to be careful over what departures they sanction, when the market opens again at the turn of the year.

Even so, there are some individuals who in their current situations, could perhaps come into contention for a move elsewhere at that point.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at four players who may be possible departures from Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window, right here.

Leo Duru

Early in the season, Eustace's reluctance to use Joe Rankin-Costello at right-back, meant the club did look short of established cover for Callum Brittain in that position.

However, the 25-year-old has returned to that role in recent games, with Hayden Carter also showing he can do a job on the right of defence.

As a result, Blackburn do now seem to have several options they could use in that role, and so a loan move for Leo Duru in January could now make sense.

The 19-year-old right-back has made just three senior appearances for the club, all in August this year, and so could benefit from a loan move elsewhere, to get more experience under his belt.

With the likes of Brittain, Rankin-Costello and Carter all ahead of him in the pecking order at the minute, Rovers may feel they are in a position to sanction such a move.

Arnor Sigurdsson

It has been a slow start to the season so far for Arnor Sigurdsson, who has featured in just four league games for the club so far.

All of those outings have been from the bench, while he has been an unused substitute on four more occasions, suggesting he is not currently first choice for Eustace.

The winger's contract with Blackburn expires at the end of the season, and so given the situation he is in, they may be tempted to accept a fee for him January, while they still have the chance to do so.

Indeed, with QPR and PAOK previously credited with an interest in him, there could be other potential destinations for him come January as well.

Zak Gilsenan

Having broken onto the fringes of the first-team last season, injury has prevented Zak Gilsenan from building on that at the start of the current campaign.

He is however, closing in on a return to action, and a loan move that allows him to build more momentum, and get some useful experience under his belt.

Rovers may feel they have the options they need to cope in his absence out wide in the second-half of the season, especially with links to other wingers such as Augustus Kargbo and Martial Godo.

As a result, a temporary move away from Blackburn for Gilsenan could make sense for all concerned come the turn of the year.

Tyrhys Dolan

With the club having triggered a 12-month option in his contract this summer, Tyrhys Dolan is now into the final year of his deal at Ewood Park.

That does of course, mean that the January transfer window will be their last chance to cash in on the attacker as things stand.

It has previously been reported that it has been agreed Dolan will stay with Rovers for this season, and given the influence he has, they will surely want to keep him if at all possible.

Even so, that quality will not have gone unnoticed elsewhere, and so there may be interest in him from elsewhere that emerges come the turn of the year.
