Narrowly missing out on a Championship play-off spot last time out, Millwall will be hoping that they can go one step further this time around.

Recruitment at The Den has been impressive this summer, both in their permanent and temporary additions, with the likes of Zian Flemming, Callum Styles, Charlie Cresswell and Andreas Voglsammer touching down at the London club.

The Lions currently sit in 13th place in the Championship standings after eight matches, accumulating 10 points in the process.

Whilst we wait and see how the season progresses for Gary Rowett’s men, here, we take a look at three current free agents that Millwall could consider now that the transfer window has slammed shut…

Robert Snodgrass

Interestingly, Robert Snodgrass was picked up as a free agent at Luton Town last season, with the experienced midfielder ultimately playing a vital role as the Hatters secured a play-off spot.

The experienced Scotsman proved to be a mightily effective creative threat during his time at Kenilworth Road, and in a game where fine margins can be pivotal, Snodgrass could be a top addition at The Den.

Of course, Millwall have several creative options this time around, however, the evident quality that the 34-year-old possesses, combined with the fact that it would likely be a cheap enough deal to pursue, should make this an option for the Lions.

Michael Hector

The latter two options in this list are players that Millwall should consider if they suffer any injuries to key personnel as the season progresses because squad depth at the London club is at an exciting level.

Should and defensive injuries occur, a move for former Fulham defender Michael Hector could be considered, with the 30-year-old thriving at Championship level in the past.

Defensively and aerially dominant, with excellent positioning, Hector would be an excellent swoop at second-tier level, whilst he is also effective when bringing the ball out from the back.

Massimo Luongo

The midfield at Millwall is now stacked with talent, experience and grit but should availability tumble, Massimo Luongo is a name that the Championship outfit should consider.

A player who brings intelligence, ball-playing ability and determination, it is a surprise that Luongo is yet to find a club in the Championship since his Sheffield Wednesday departure.

It is likely when the dust settles after the hectic transfer window, several Championship clubs might add the former Owl to their respective radars, meaning Millwall might have to move quickly if they want to get this one done.
