Phil Jagielka, Billy Sharp, Aaron Ramsdale, Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are just some players who developed through Sheffield United's academy ranks, before going on to enjoy highly successful careers.

The Blades have once again this summer evidenced the talent that is coming through their factory after William Osula's reported £15m move to Newcastle United was confirmed after he emerged from the club's youth side and into the first team last season.

But who might be next to follow in Osula's footsteps? Football League World takes a look at three current Sheffield United youngsters would could make the club serious money in the future.

Ollie Arblaster

Perhaps the flagship product of Sheffield United's academy in recent years, Ollie Arblaster is a player who seems to move closer to fulfilling his potential with each passing game.

The 20-year-old central midfielder emerged from the Blades' youth factory and into the first-team picture back in the 2022/23 season but it was his performances in the second half of last term that have positioned him firmly in Chris Wilder's starting lineup for 2024/25.

A former England youth international, Arblaster was handed an opportunity to show what he can do in the second half of Sheffield United's ill-fated Premier League campaign last term, where he quickly became one of Wilder's best and most consistent performers in the 12 appearances he made.

As a clear indication of his talent, potential, and maturity levels, the boyhood Blade was handed the captain's armband in a 4-2 defeat at Old Trafford in late April, once again putting in an impressive display.

Arblaster has already carried his strong performances into the new Championship season, scoring the first of United's two goals in an opening-day victory over Preston North End, and now looks set to play a big role for the club this season.

If he continues to develop at the rate he is, Sheffield United may have a tough job on their hands in keeping him at Bramall Lane. He is, however, contracted to the club until 2028, meaning any interested parties in the near future will not be able to steal him away for anything less than what the Blades demand.

Andre Brooks

Another shining star of Sheffield United's academy system, Andre Brooks has been a breath of fresh air at the football club in recent times.

The youngster - who turns 21 on Tuesday (20 August) - ensured that Blades supporters would have something to get out of their seats for when making the trip to Bramall Lane last season, something which for many had become somewhat of a chore the longer the season went on.

Despite failing to find the back of the net or register an assist in 20 Premier League appearances last season, the Sheffield-born Brooks' work rate, fearlessness, and passion made him an instant hit with the fanbase.

Brooks' potential was made clear for all to see, and after picking up an assist for the aforementioned Arblaster goal vs Preston, the confident midfielder is already showing signs of an even more impactful 2024/25 campaign ahead.

Clubs are always on the lookout for skillful midfield talents, and Brooks is certainly showing he has talent in abundance. Should he and United's coaching staff ensure the more raw aspects of his game are refined in the coming years, Brooks could one day leave the club for a very healthy fee.

Ryan Oné

A player who may not have made the step up to senior level just yet, Ryan Oné is a forward who certainly appears to have all the tools in place to burst onto the Bramall Lane scene in the near future.

The 18-year-old was poached from Scottish side Hamilton Academical last summer and is a versatile player who can operate in both central and wide roles.

Oné is a Scotland youth international, having been capped at Under-17 and Under-19 level, and has been turning heads in the Blades' academy ranks over the last year.

United clearly feel as though they have a future star on their hands, and that was evidently made clear this summer after the club handed him a long-term contract that runs to 2029.

Sheffield United's academy manager, Derek Geary, told the club website: "We are delighted Ryan has committed to a long-term deal with us. He's had a lot of good development over the last 10 months and I credit Mickey Collins, Danny Cadamarteri and the coaching staff for that.

"He's still very young but has all the potential to go to the highest level. His attitude, character and potential is very much a Sheffield United player and we are delighted to have him."

Oné's big Blades break appears to be on the horizon, and should he continue to improve over the course of the next few years, United could have a player on their hands that nets them a big transfer fee.
