3-0: Defeat in Seville

Real Madrid slipped to defeat away at Sevilla (3-0) on matchday seven of the Primera Iberdrola, as David Aznar’s side failed to pick up a second win in the domestic competition. The Andalusian outfit claimed the three points thanks to a brace from Inma and a penalty from Jessica to continue their unbeaten run at home in the league.

Sevilla broke the deadlock early on when Inma fired in an unstoppable strike from the edge of the area. Real Madrid went close to an equaliser when Zornoza’s long-range effort narrowly missed the target. The visitors began to dominate possession, but the Andalusians were tough to break down in defence and kept Madrid at arm’s length. Zornoza tried her luck again from outside the box, but her shot missed the target.

The madridistas immediately looked to get back in the game, but Athenea missed the target from inside the six-yard box in the 53rd minute. On 81’, Jessica sealed the win for the hosts when she converted a penalty, which had been conceded by Lorena. In stoppage time, Madrid almost reduced the deficit from the penalty spot, but Olga’s spot-kick was saved by Sullastres.
