Tottenham Hotspur target Paulo Dybala speaks out on his contract situation at Juventus

According to DAZN, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur target Paulo Dybala has suggested that there is commotion regarding contract talks at Juventus.

Despite suffering a few injury issues along the way, Paulo Dybala has put in some crucial performances this season. With some game-winning knocks in recent matches, the Juventus forward has already bagged a total of 9 goals and four assists in 20 appearances.

He has even had the opportunity to captain the Old Lady amid Giorgio Chiellini’s absence. Ever since he signed from Palermo, he has clearly been one of Juve’s star men, and it is only natural for them to want to keep him at the club for an extended period of time.

Paulo Dybala has been on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar for a while

Tottenham have a long history with Dybala after attempting to sign him in 2019. However, the deal fell off at the end due to difficulty in gaining his image rights from a third party communication company. However, our club hasn’t entirely dropped their interest, and he was linked with a move to N17 once again at the end of 2021.

As the Argentine international’s current contract with Juventus is set to end in the summer, there are speculations regarding his destination for next season. However, when asked about the situation in a recent interview, he didn’t give much clarification.

“Many things have happened… I prefer not to talk about it. I’ve nothing to prove to anyone [to sign a new deal with Juventus]. The club has decided to talk with me in February or March. I’m here available for the manager.”

Dybala has primarily played as a number 10 for most of his Juventus career. But regardless, he is more than capable of playing out wide and at times, down the middle of the attack. A versatile forward, Dybala would strengthen most teams’ attacks- especially ours, as we are clearly short of depth up front.

However, Dybala hasn’t been his best self in the last two seasons and therefore, we have to be cautious about the potential financial aspects of any deal. There is nothing solid to suggest that we can sign him in January.

But if we can get our hands on him in the new future, he would be one of our most high-profile signings in recent history. At 28, he is very much in the peak years as a footballer and can offer a number of years to any club he wishes to play for in the future- be it Juventus, or any other team.
