Manchester United likely to conclude summer business after Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane

ESPN reports that Manchester United are unlikely to make more major signings this summer after the arrival of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Deals have been agreed upon for both the players for a combined fee of over £100million. Sancho comes from Borussia Dortmund to finally end a drawn-out transfer saga, while Varane arrives with a huge reputation from Real Madrid.

The report mentions that Varane will arrive at Manchester once he and his family get visas to travel to the city. He is also expected to quarantine and undergo a medical in line with the UK government’s Covid-19 protocols.

United are believed to have tracked the former Lens defender for nearly a decade. But they finally have their man, and even if the club signs no one else, fans can rest easy knowing two positions have been strengthened.

United should be happy with Sancho and Varane

The Red Devils finally have a right-winger that can be a regular fixture in their line-up. In addition to that, Daniel James, Mason Greenwood, and youngster Amad Diallo will also vie for minutes down that side.

As for their defence, Varane’s imminent arrival would add heaps of quality to their backline. Harry Maguire has been an ever-present player ever since his move from Leicester City.

But the same does not really stand true for Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, and Eric Bailly. Varane would undoubtedly warrant a starting position in their defence and at 28, can make that spot his own for the next few years.

Sancho, at 21, is quite ahead of other players in his age bracket when it comes to being a regular starter for top European clubs. And United know that, considering they paid an eye-watering £73million for him.
