Alexandre Lafitte became the youngest ever coach to take charge of a top-flight side in world football when he was appointed at Ivory Coast side Stade Abidjan at the age of 25 back in January 2023. Now 28, he has made more history, winning the club’s first league title in 56 years.

Abidjan wrapped up the title on Sunday, beating Lys de Sassandra 3-0. Lafitte’s side needed only a point to win the title and beat historic side Asec Mimosas, the last Ivorian side to win the CAF Champions League (1998). Prior to his nomination at Abidjan, Lafitte had spells with Paris FC’s women’s team (2019-2020), as well as with fifth-tier side Gueugnon.
