The entourage of Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku are seeking talks with Todd Boehly

According to Absolute Chelsea (via jamesalanrobson) (h/t Football.London), the representatives of Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku want to hold talks with Todd Boehly in the summer.

The Belgian striker made the switch from Inter Milan to Chelsea at the start of the season and it is safe to say that things have not panned out as expected. Lukaku’s return to Stamford Bridge has been a mixed bag at best and he has been subject to criticism throughout this season.

The 29-year-old has played 44 games for Thomas Tuchel’s men across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing two assists. Whilst the numbers actually don’t seem that bad, the Belgian has had patches of goal scoring form and long spells of frustration in front of the goal.

The former Inter Milan man wants to make it work at Chelsea and his entourage wants to talk with the new owners regarding his future at the club. Hopefully, it sparks the beginning of him rediscovering the goalscoring boots that he donned while in Serie A.

A chance to turn it around?

Although the homecoming has not panned out as planned for Lukaku or Chelsea, there could still be time to turn it around. The burly Belgian striker is world-class at his best and can be the prolific goal scorer that Thomas Tuchel is crying out for.

The Blues’ striking woes this season have been well documented and Lukaku has been partly to blame but he could also be the solution to it.

Injuries and Covid have not been kind to the 29-year-old striker. Just when he seemed to be settling into life back in England, something or the other seemed to be cropping up which meant that Lukaku could never have a chance to get into any sort of rhythm.

The fact that the Belgian believes he can turn it around and make it work shows his determination and we must give him a chance to do that. The truth is, if Lukaku manages to turn it around, there are not many strikers in the world who can do better than him.

It’s time for a second nay third chance for Lukaku at Chelsea. Whether he takes it this time remains to be seen but for the good of all involved, let’s hope he does.
