Unfortunately, his expected renewal is taking longer than expected and it has nothing to do with the relationship between the player and the club. Instead, it is an issue between Frenkie de Jong and his agent, Ali Dursun, as the Dutchman is trying to part ways with him and the agent is not making it easy for him.

With constant issues in progressing with Dursun popping up, De Jong wants a change of representation. However, these complicated issues are proving to be troublesome for now and they are primarily highlighted as the reason behind the delayed extension so far.

Barcelona have improved their relationship with him

As for De Jong’s relationship with Barcelona, there is no longer the same kind of strained relationship as there was in the past. Instead, the Dutchman is much more trusting of the club’s plans now with Joan Laporta and Hansi Flick leading the charge.
