Transfer News: Inter striker Mauro Icardi offered to Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, Barcelona and Newcastle United

According to the French publication Footmercato (h/t Football.London), Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi has been ‘offered’ to a host of European clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, Barcelona and Newcastle United. He has turned into a peripheral figure at Paris, falling down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino.

Following the summer move of Lionel Messi, Icardi has struggled to gain minutes for PSG and has grown frustrated as a result. Even though he has played 15 games this term, the minutes amount to just 669 in total. He scored three goals during that time, but that cannot be a criticism since he has not enjoyed a regular run of fixtures.

It would be tough to get into a side with Messi, Angel Di Maria, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the frontline. As a result, his representatives have offered the player to several clubs hoping for a move elsewhere in search of regular game time.

However, he has a history with Antonio Conte when they were at Inter Milan. The former Chelsea and Juventus manager sold the Argentina international to PSG during his time in Milan and his jersey number was inherited by Romelu Lukaku.

The 28-year-old filed a legal claim against the Nerazzurri after it was clear that the current Spurs did not want him in the first-team fold. He eventually got loaned to the Ligue 1 giants, which was followed by a permanent transfer.

Stay Away At All Costs!

It does not seem worth the effort to go out and get Icardi considering the baggage that he carries. With Conte and him clearly having a fallout in the past, talks of him reuniting with the Italian barely make sense.

Bringing in someone who has such a history does not bode well for a team currently in a rebuilding phase. His pedigree has never really been up for debate, but there is plenty of fish in the sea.

We have a good thing going on under Conte right now. Harry Kane is still at N17 while some of our better players are beginning to find feet under the new manager. The best thing for us would be to maintain this harmony and add players in January that would boost the team’s quality and morale. Whether Icardi can fall in that category remains to be seen.
