After their demoralizing defeat to Osasuna in La Liga on Saturday, FC Barcelona are already back to business as they start their preparations for the upcoming UEFA Champions League game against Young Boys.
The Catalans will be looking to get a win from this game, especially as they were defeated by Monaco in their UCL opener.
The Blaugrana team’s injury situation has been a source of headache for Flick, but as Mundo Deportivo has reported, he might be in line to receive a significant boost ahead of this game.
The midfielder Frenkie de Jong is expected to get the green light for this upcoming game and thus will be available for selection after five months of absence if there are no setbacks. The Dutchman has been on the sidelines with an ankle injury that he suffered back in April while playing against Real Madrid.
Gavi, currently in the final stages of his recovery, has been participating in partial training sessions with the rest of the team. However, he missed today’s group training and focused solely on gym work instead.
Other players like Araujo, Christensen, Olmo, and Fermin worked on their recovery processes, while Ter Stegen and Marc Bernal are still convalescing after their knee surgeries.
Several youngsters also trained with the first team in this session, including the likes of Sergi Dominguez, Gerard Martin, Hector Fort, Andres Cuenca, Guille Fernandez, Toni Fernandez, Ander Astralaga and Aron Yaakobishvili.
The training session started around 20 minutes later than its scheduled time of 11 AM, as Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick had gathered his players in the dressing room for a brief tactical talk.
Thus, Frenkie de Jong is likely to at last return to the team’s squad list, which will not be made public by the club until Tuesday, after the team’s last training session at the Ciutat Esportivo de Sant Joan Despi.
