25 year old is still Chelsea’s “main target”

The rumours about Chelsea’s intentions to sign a new first choice goalkeeper aren’t going anywhere – and in fact if anything we’re hearing more and more on that front.

There were some rather chilling links to Jordan Pickford – who is a decent keeper but not an upgrade on what we have – but thankfully those seem to have faded away. Everton can’t afford to lose him in any case.

Up next seems to be Robert Sanchez, who plays for Graham Potter’s former team Brighton.

The well connected Simon Philips is the source of a lot of the whispers about our transfer moves in January, and he is insisting that Sanchez is top of the pile.

“At the moment I’m told that Sanchez from Brighton is the main target to replace him,” Philips said in quotes picked up by CaughtOffside.

“They have looked at Jordan Pickford and they have been watching him again recently on scouting missions, but at the moment, Sanchez, purely because Potter knows him, Potter had him at Brighton, he’s the main target to replace Mendy.“

It will be interesting to see what Blues fans think about the idea of signing Sanchez. He’s not a glamorous name but he’s worked well under Potter before, and his ability to play with his feet is clearly a major consideration.
