Conor Gallagher has still not been offered a new contract by Chelsea according to reports, with his current deal set to expire in 2025.

Gallagher has established himself as a key player for Mauricio Pochettino this season, and has captained the side for large parts of the campaign due to injuries suffered by Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

The Blues were believed to be open to offers for the 24-year-old last summer, and in January despite him proving how important he can be to the club this season.

Tottenham have shown interest in the England international but are believed to be put off by the £50m asking price,  whilst Newcastle are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation.

The Blues reportedly need to raise around £100m by the end of June in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

The club are therefore trying to offload a host of academy graduates as they count as pure profit on the books, with Ian Maatsen, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja all expected to be sold by the club this summer.

Despite spending big money on Enzo Fernanadez and Moises Caicedo, Gallagher has arguably been Chelsea’s most consistent midfielder this season.

Gallagher has made 45 appearances in all competitions so far, scoring six goals and providing eight assists.

The Cobham graduate scored a brilliant goal against Aston Villa on Saturday night to rescue a point as the Blues came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.

The midfielder is closing in on 100 appearances for his boyhood club, making 90 so far overall.

He has spoken in the past about being concerned for his future at the club, and told The Telegraph in November:

“When top players come in your position, you think you have less of a chance of playing as much as I’d like.

“It makes me even more determined to prove to the manager why you are good enough to be playing as well. I think I have done that this season.”
