Championship leaders Burnley are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur right back Djed Spence on loan this month, according to 90min.

The defender had a season to remember last campaign, as he helped guide Nottingham Forest to the Premier League while on loan there from Middlesbrough.

His performances throughout the campaign didn’t go unnoticed and, in the summer, just gone he got a move to Premier League side Tottenham.

However, it hasn’t been smooth sailing at Spurs, with his playing time being hard to come by as Antonio Conte has preferred the options of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty.

Spence has only featured four times in the league this season, with all of those appearances coming from the bench. Now, it is believed Spence could be available for a loan move this month and therefore, there are a number of clubs expected to show interest, one being Burnley.

In his six appearances this season, Spence has averaged 0.4 shots on goal per game, which is probably more than many would have expected. All of those shots the full back has taken have come from within the penalty area.

The 22-year-old has probably shown his lack of minutes when he has played, as he has been dispossessed an average of 0.6 times per game.

Spence is known for being an attacking-minded full back and one that is quite tidy on the ball. The Spurs man has averaged 2.3 passes in the league when he has played and 16 in the 23-minute cameo he had in the EFL Cup.

This highlights that while he still hasn’t played much, when he has quality on the ball, it is for all to see.

The defender has a strong completion rate for passes as well; in the league he has averaged 55.6% successful completions, while in the EFL Cup it is 75%, which means his average for this season is 59.4%.

Spence is currently averaging 6.02 WhoScored.com rating, and you have to remember that is for a player that has only appeared six times this season and has only collected 30 minutes of football. These are not exciting stats and are not going to encourage many, but when you consider how well Spence performed last season in the Championship, he is definitely a player that will attract much interest if made available for a loan move.
