With both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen looking like they’re leaving, Chelsea are going to need a new defender this summer, that much is certain.

Plenty of agents around Europe see this as a great opportunity, and none is pushing harder than whoever works for Matthijs de Ligt.

The Juventus defender is being linked more and more with a move to the Blues, as SportWitness note today. They cite stories in Italy which say we would pay €65m for the former Ajax man.

As it stands, this looks more like a play to get a new deal for the Dutch international. We can’t see Chelsea buying a starter from a big team like Juventus, it’s such a costly exercise, especially as they will be getting precisely £0 for Christensen and Rudiger.

They will need someone however, so you just never know what deal could end up being hammered out come the summer.
