Earlier this week, Real Madrid announced the signing of Fran Garcia to bolster the left-back department heading into the next season.

However, the Merengues are still not done with reinforcing the left-back position as they have doubts about Ferland Mendy. The Frenchman struggled with form and fitness issues during the 2022/23 campaign and has been put up for sale.

And Real Madrid have set their sights on Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich as the man to replace Mendy at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Now, journalist Tomas Gonzalez-Martin is reporting that the 22-year-old Davies wants to join and play for Real Madrid. But a move for the Canadian speedster will depend on whether Los Blancos can get rid of Mendy successfully or not.

Davies, whose market value stands at €70 million, has a contract with Bayern Munich until 2025. And his agent has been dropping hints that a renewal might not be on the cards.

However, even if that is the case, the Bavarian giants will be reluctant to sell the 22-year-old youngster this summer.

But in case the player is intent on making the switch to Real Madrid and pushes for an exit, the German champions could be forced to change their stance.

Although, as iterated earlier, any move for Davies will depend on whether the Merengues can offload Mendy or not.

The French international has been linked with clubs in the Premier League, while there have been talks of using him as a makeweight in the Harry Kane operation.

If the Spanish capital outfit are successful in getting rid of the former Olympique Lyon ace one way or the other this summer, it would open the door for them to launch a move for Davies. But negotiations with Bayern Munich are unlikely to be easy.
