Despite their struggles in La Liga, FC Barcelona are having an excellent UEFA Champions League campaign, as they directly advanced to the Round of 16 by finishing in second place on the overall UCL League Phase table.
Several Blaugrana players stood out for their side in this first phase of the competition, with Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha being among the top scorers of the competition, the former with 9 goals and the latter with 8.
Behind them, another Barcelona player who has been one of the stand-out players for the Catalan team this season has been the young midfielder, Marc Casadó, whose numbers Mundo Deportivo has analyzed to show his impact on the team’s performance.
The one aspect in which he is leading in the UCL is that of defensive duels, as he is first among midfielders and third overall in the ranking of players who win the highest number of defensive duels, with 51 wins from 76 duels. Thus, he has a defensive duel-winning percentage of 67.11%.
Similarly, he also stands second in the ranking of players with the most tackles made, with his 10 tackles only less than Jude Bellingham’s 15.
With these duels, Casadó has also accumulated some of the best numbers in terms of recoveries, as he stands 6th in the ranking of players that made the most quick recoveries, with 39.
But his aggression and tenacity come with a price, as he also stands 5th in the number of players with the most fouls with his 13 fouls in the League Phase.
On the other hand, the La Masia graduate also shines when contributing to the build-up phase, as he stands 14th among the players with the highest number of successful passes in the final third. Up to now, he has had 60 passes attempted in the final third, with 49 of them successful.
Similarly, he also rarely loses the ball, and stands 51st in the ranking of players who have lost the ball the most with his 52 losses up to now.
What makes these achievements even more noteworthy is the fact that this is only his first season as a regular first-team player, and among players 21 years of age or below, he stands 11th in the ranking of minutes, having played 611 minutes in 8 matches.
