It’s been quite some time since Rangers added a player to the ranks worth £20M and now Mikey Moore’s Rangers move could end that.

Unfortunately both previous occasions were the dismal Aaron Ramsey, and the unfortunate Amad Diallo. Ramsey was arriving worth around £40M and Diallo, staggeringly, was about the same.

Moore is a serious prospect. We’re remember other occasions we didn’t clinch a kid of that age on loan – Harry Winks, Phil Foden, Lionel Messi…

Moore may or may not be as good as these lads ended up being, but his record speaks for itself and Mikey Moore’s Rangers move could happen.

He already has a full dozen Premier League appearances, something most 17-year-olds can only dream about. That’s before mentioning his 39 total goal contributions in 55 matches across all levels. Rangers don’t often get access to this kind of elite youth pedigree.

If this deal goes through, it could be one of the most significant loan coups the club has managed in years. Forget journeymen or cast-offs – this lad is a genuine rising star.

The signs suggest Spurs want him properly tested, and Ibrox is a brutal proving ground for any young footballer. If he thrives here, he’ll be ready for anything.

Rangers need to get this one done.
