Following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Transfermarkt have updated their values for players.
So who is now ranked so highly that they make into the game’s most valuable starting line-up?
You only have to look at Milan’s performances last season when was sidelined through injury to see how important he is. Still just 28, the best years are still ahead for the France international, whose reflexes rival the best in the game.
His value at the moment may be €75m but that seems certain to change soon as he closes in on a €100m move to Manchester City which will make him the most expensive defender of all time.
A man who is set to soon be Gvardiol’s team-mate, he is also the player whose value will be usurped when that goes through, with the 2020/21 Premier League Player of the Year currently ranked as the world’s most valuable at the back.
The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength since his move from Juventus to Bayern Munich and has now clearly established himself as one of the world’s top defensive talents.
Although his official transfer fee from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid was €103m, that can rise to as much as €120m if bonuses are met. And he only turned 20 last week!
His place at Manchester City may no longer be guaranteed but Foden’s talents are unquestionable and like his England team-mate above, still has his best years ahead at just 23.
Following a sensational individual season which saw the versatile Arsenal man lead his side to an unlikely title challenge and back to the Champions League, his value has rightly rocketed through the roof.
Following Bellingham’s departure from the Bundesliga, Bayern’s 20-year-old playmaker is now the the division’s undisputed top young talent and that is reflected in his value.
The jewel in Real Madrid’s crown of talented young players, do not be surprised to see this number increase further in the years ahead.
There are no surprises when it comes to the two most valuable forwards in world football, both of whom registered the two highest goals-per-minute ratio of any players in Europe’s top five leagues last season.
It wasn’t going to be anyone else was it? They can’t be split in terms of value, even after the Manchester City phenom’s stunning debut season in the Premier League.
