Football stars from across the globe flocked to London on Monday for the latest instalment of The Best FIFA Awards.

21:08 – It could only be her, couldn’t it? Aitana Bonmatí claims the last award of the evening!

21:02 – Onto the final honour of the evening in the Women’s Player of the Year with Aitana Bonmatí, Linda Caicedo and Jenni Hermoso on the shortlist.

21:00 – A special award is being presented to Brazil legend Marta after being named the women’s best player by FIFA six times.

20:54 –  The Argentina captain can’t be in London to collect the award so co-host and former Barcelona teammate Thierry Henry accepts it on his behalf,

20:52 – Lionel Messi wins it for a third time!

20:51 – Here comes one of the evening’s main awards in the form of the Men’s Player of the Year. Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland and Kylian MbappĂ© fighting it out for this one.

20:31 – We’re getting into the business end of things with the Puskás Award coming up shortly

20:18 – A slight change in pace with the Fair Play Award, which goes to Brazil’s senior men’s team for their public stance against racism

20:15 – Ederson takes the crown after his imperious performances for the reigning European and world champions City!

20:12 – Next up is the Best Men’s Goalkeeper – Thibaut Courtois, Yassine Bounou and Ederson up for this one

20:08 – Mary Earps wins her second award of the night by reclaiming the Best Women’s Goalkeeper!

20:07 – We’re moving onto the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for 2023. Mackenzie Arnold, Catalina Coll and Mary Earps in the hunt for the award.

19:54 – Sarina Wiegman wins it for a second year running after the Lionesses’ incredible run to the Women’s World Cup final!

19:53 – We move onto the Women’s Best Coach for 2023. Jonatan Giráldez, Emma Hayes and Sarina Wiegman all going head-to-head for this one.

19:51 – City had the most players in a World XI since Guardiola’s Barcelona team of 2010. Henry puts his old boss on the spot about which team was better – we can’t repeat what he initially said!
