The results of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup draw are in, with the US men’s national team to face Jamaica, Nicaragua and a to-be-determined qualifier in Group A.
The last participant will be known on June 20, after a preliminary match takes place. Caribbean nations Curaçao, Saint Kitts and Nevis, French Guiana and Sint Maarten all stand as possible opponents.
The rest of the draw placed Mexico alongside Qatar, Haiti and Honduras in Group B. Canada will lead Guatemala, Cuba and a to-be-determined qualifier in Group D, and Group C sees Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador and another to-be-determined qualifier.
Game schedules and stadium details will be announced at a later date, but the list of host cities has already been established: Arlington, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Glendale, Harrison, Houston, Inglewood, Las Vegas, San Diego, Santa Clara and St. Louis.
The tournament is set to run from June 16 to July 16, with the final at SoFi Stadium.
The USMNT enters the Concacaf tournament as defending champions, after triumping 1-0 over rivals Mexico in August 2021 with a game-winning header from defender Miles Robinson. Mexico currently stands as the only country to ever win back-to-back editions of Gold Cup, completing the feat in 2009 and 2011.
The upcoming tournament stands as just one of two regional competitions taking place this summer. The American team will also participate in the Concacaf Nations League, reaching the semi-finals of the tournament following victories against Grenada and El Salvador.
USMNT interim manager Anthony Hudson will likely lead the team in both the tournaments, despite an ongoing search to replace him and international interest to onboard the englishman. 90min, Iran and Oman have previously approached Hudson with offers and details.
