West Ham enjoyed a perfect start to their Europa Conference League campaign this season as they won all six games in a group containing Anderlecht, Silkeborg and FCSB. A tie against AEK Larnaca awaited them which ended 6-0 on aggregate.

Next up was Gent which saw a tight 1-1 draw in the first leg and then a 4-1 win in London for West Ham. The semi-final was against a talented AZ Alkmaar side and after a 2-1 home win, West Ham won 1-0 in the Netherlands to book their ticket.

Things were not as smooth for Fiorentina at the start of the tournament. Their group contained Istanbul Basaksehir, Hearts and RFS. They came second in the group and had to enter the play-off round.

They had to face SC Braga which seemed like it would be a tough task, but they won the first leg in Portugal 4-0. The tie ended 7-2 on aggregate and they then beat Sivasspor 5-1 on aggregate. An impressive 4-1 win in the first leg against Lech Poznan meant the 3-2 loss in the second didn't matter and they were into the semi-finals.

They did it the hard way against FC Basel, conceding late on to lose their lead in the first leg before then scoring in the 129th minute in Switzerland to win the tie 4-3.
