The average attendance in the Liga MX Apertura so far this season is 23,488 per match.
The most attended match was obviously El Súper Clásico at the Estadio Azteca, where 69,486 people gathered to watch Andrés Ibargüen equalise in the 81st minute for América.
People were a little less enthusiastic about heading to the Lobos BUAP match when they hosted Veracruz in their home opener, a 2-0 win for Lobos.
The 5,845 in attendance that night enjoyed the most intimate evening of football in Mexico’s top-flight this season.
Of course, the two teams that occupy the Estadio Azteca, the largest stadium in Mexico, lead the league in average attendance.
It helps that both teams are at the top of the table, but it’s second-placed América that leads with an average of 36,351 fans, while leaders Cruz Azul are just behind with 34,547 fans per match.
Just behind them are Chivas with an average of 25,732 spectators and Pumas with 19,281 people per match.
