Sheffield United will no doubt be looking for a productive January transfer window.
Sat 13th in the Championship table after a recent resurgence under Paul Heckingbottom, the Blades will no doubt be looking to strengthen their squad this month, to mount a push for the play-off places.
But as is often the case, completing deals is generally easier said than done, not least in a January window, so there may be some long running player pursuits over the coming weeks.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at two Sheffield United transfer sagas that we could see play out over the next week.

John Souttar
It seems Sheffield United will soon know whether they have been successful with their pursuit to sign Hearts centre back John Souttar.
With his contract at Tynecastle set to expire at the end of this season, the 25-year-old is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside Scotland now.
The Blades, along with several other Championship sides, and Auld Firm pair Celtic and Rangers, have all been credited with an interest in Souttar recently.
It is now being suggested that the defender will make a decision on who he signs with this week, meaning there may not be long for Sheffield United to wait here.
If they are successful, there could then be an issue of agreeing a deal with Hearts to bring Souttar to Bramall Lane now, rather than in the summer.
Oli Burke
If Sheffield United are to bring players in this summer, then they may have to move others out to make space in the squad and raise funds for those potential incomings.
It had seemed as though one of those who could be on his way out of Bramall Lane in the coming weeks, is Oli Burke.
Reports earlier in the transfer window had claimed that the Blades were in advanced talks with Championship rivals Blackburn about a move for Burke, with the attacker cleared to leave this month.
However, Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray has since dismissed talks of such a deal, suggesting Ewood Park may no longer be a potential destination for the 24-year-old.
With Burke down the pecking at Sheffield United, a his departure could be best for all concerned, but after that update from Mowbray, the Blades could have a battle on their hands to find him a new club.
