This Devon duo will likely be wanting a fresh start when the new year comes around

Despite the transfer window only shutting at the end of last month, clubs up and down the country will already be considering what transfer business they should start pursuing for when January comes around.

There will always be gaps that need to be plugged, improvements that need to be made, and players that want to leave, with work likely to already be starting behind the scenes to prepare for every eventuality.

Plymouth Argyle will be no different in that regard, with extra bodies likely to be needed, while one or two faces will be looking to move on to get extra game time, or even just for a fresh start away from the club.

Here we take a look at a pair who will more than likely be wanting to leave Home Park when we hit 2025, with their time in Devon seemingly slipping away.

Callum Wright

The writing seems to be on the wall for Callum Wright, with the former Blackpool man finding game time hard to come by at this moment in time.

The playmaker was rumoured to be on the move in the summer, with Michael Skubala’s Lincoln City side said to be interested in his services, although that deal never came to fruition.

With Argyle having to wait until the final day of the transfer window to get a deal for creative midfielder Rami Al Hajj over the line, the Greens had limited time remaining if they were going to offload the ex-Cheltenham Town star, so still have him on the books for now.

With just eight league starts last season and 43 minutes played in the Championship so far, Wayne Rooney obviously feels he has better options to link midfield and attack, and Al Hajj’s inclusion is only going to push the 24-year-old further down the pecking order.

A loan - or even permanent - move to a League One side looks to be the best option at this moment in time, with Wright’s ability at that level much more influential than what he can offer in the second tier.

Any side with promotion aspirations in the division below will surely be eyeing him up at the start of next year, and Argyle know first-hand just what an impact he can have if he hits the ground running, with his contribution helping them get over the line in the 22/23 campaign.

Will Jenkins Davies

Will Jenkins Davies was offered a one-year deal in the summer after a promising spell at Torquay United over the course of the 23/24 campaign.

Despite missing a portion of the season with a knee injury, the forward netted seven times in 33 appearances for the Gulls, and looks like emerging into an exciting prospect for the future.

Whether he is Championship standard remains to be seen, but another loan move away from the club - possibly to a side in the National League or League Two - could benefit him at this time in his career, regardless of his opportunities with Argyle.
