Nottingham Forest will be looking to keep their hopes of securing promotion to the Premier League on track this weekend when they face Sheffield United in the first leg of their play-off semi-final.

The Reds are set to travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday before hosting the Blades in the return fixture on May 17th.

This could turn out to be a tight contest as the points were shared when these two clubs met in March.

Billy Sharp’s effort for the Blades was cancelled out by a late header from Ryan Yates.

Regardless of what division Forest find themselves in next season, their players will unquestionably be determined to impress the club’s supporters by producing some eye-catching displays.

Here, we have decided to take a look at two Forest players to watch out for during the 2022/23 campaign…

Sam Surridge

Signed by Forest in the January transfer window from Stoke City, Sam Surridge has managed to make a positive start to his spell at the club.

After initially being deployed as a substitute by Cooper, the forward has been given the chance to lead the line in the club’s recent fixtures due to injuries suffered by Keinan Davis and Lewis Grabban.

Surridge has grabbed this opportunity to impress as he has managed to score five goals in his last five starts.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to test himself in the top-flight next season by firing his side to promotion via a trip to Wembley Stadium this month.

Currently averaging a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.73 in the second-tier for Forest, it will be intriguing to see how Surridge will cope in the Premier League if his side do go on to seal a spot in this division.

Jonathan Panzo

Jonathan Panzo also sealed a permanent move to Forest earlier this year as he joined the club from French outfit Dijon.

Deployed by the Reds at Under-23 level in recent months, Panzo was finally handed his senior debut by Cooper in his side’s 1-1 draw with Hull City last weekend.

The 21-year-old produced a promising performance in this fixture as he won two aerial duels, made two tackles 87.3% of his passes.

Having recorded an impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.26 in this fixture, Panzo will now be keen to push on over the summer as he aims to become a key part of Cooper’s plans for the 2022/23 campaign.
