The injury concerns at La Liga giants Real Madrid have this week continued to pile up.
This comes amid confirmation that, after Antonio Rüdiger was forced under the knife on Tuesday, another two members of Real’s backline will do likewise over the days ahead.
The pair in question? Ferland Mendy, and David Alaba.
Both Mendy and Alaba are of course fresh off being dealt setbacks on the fitness front.
In the case of the former, the Frenchman was forced into a departure from Saturday’s Copa del Rey finale, inside the opening 10 minutes.
Mendy has since been diagnosed with ‘a ruptured tendon in his right quadriceps muscle’.
Fellow stopper Alaba, meanwhile, was an unused substitute against Barcelona, after being hooked prematurely from a La Liga clash with Getafe days prior.
The Austrian has for his part suffered ‘a ruptured internal meniscus in his left knee’.
And according to Marca, owing to the seriousness of their respective injuries, both Mendy and Alaba will in turn undergo surgery over the coming days.
