Luton Town’s January transfer window sparked into life late on after what was gearing up to be a pretty quiet month for the Hatters.

Knowledge of the departures of James Bree and Harry Cornick forced the Hatters back into the market, with Cody Drameh and Joe Taylor coming in as a result, whilst Marvelous Nakamba also touched down at Kenilworth Road.

Sitting fourth in the Championship, and possessing a game in hand on third place, Rob Edwards’ side will be eager to keep hold of a play-off spot in what remains.

Here, we take a look at two Luton players who may have been slightly disappointed that a move in the January transfer window did not come about…

Casey Pettit

Casey Pettit is an exciting young midfielder who is on the fringes of things at first-team level and has a very bright future ahead of him.

However, with the midfield now looking as competitive as ever, with Luke Berry recently returning to full fitness and Nakamba arriving, opportunities in the Championship look slightly further away than they did a few months back.

A player who has all the required abilities to embark on a League Two loan move, that may have been an excellent learning curve for him.

True or false: The club was founded in 1875!

True False

A loan move to the National League could still come to fruition, however, he could have really tested himself and accelerated his development at Kenilworth Road in the fourth-tier.

On the flip side of things, remaining within a dressing room with such confidence and such quality could be perfect for his progression.

Aribim Pepple

Aribim Pepple embarked on a loan spell at Grimsby Town at the start of the campaign but was unable to consistently feature for the Mariners.

The 20-year-old, who the Hatters signed from Cavalry FC in the summer after starting the Canadian Premier League in electric form, has since returned to Kenilworth Road and scored in a recent development game at Huddersfield Town.

Pepple may have been hoping that another chance would have been afforded to him in the fourth tier but nothing came to fruition late on in the window.

Looking at the first-team, the young forward is well down the pecking order, especially when considering that Taylor has arrived for an undisclosed fee, whilst Admiral Muskwe has been recalled from his loan spell at Fleetwood Town.
