Coventry City managed to bolster their squad during the January transfer window by securing the services of some fresh faces.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins opted to sign Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Josh Wilson-Esbrand and Luke McNally on temporary deals.

Sean Maguire meanwhile put pen to paper on a short-term contract at Coventry following a spell at Preston North End.

Whereas Championship teams can no longer purchase or loan in players until the summer, they are able to pursue moves for free-agents.

Despite the fact that we are now past the midway point of the 2022/23 campaign, there are still a host of players who are on the lookout for new clubs.

Here, we have decided to take a look at two free agents who are available to Coventry and could potentially turn out to be good signings by the club.

Chris Martin left Bristol City last week by mutual agreement and is now searching for a new club.

While Coventry are currently able to turn to the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Maguire and Matt Godden for inspiration in the striker position, they may find it beneficial to pursue a move for Martin.

The former Robins man knows exactly what it takes to compete at this level as during his career to date, he has managed to find the back of the net on 112 occasions in the second-tier.

Martin has also provided 57 assists in the Championship and will be confident in his ability to deliver the goods in a Coventry shirt as a backup option to top-scorer Gyokeres.

Given that the forward is 34-years-old, it could be argued that the Sky Blues should only be looking to sign him on a short-term basis.

Timm Klose was also allowed to leave the Robins on transfer deadline day.

The defender was limited to just 10 league appearances earlier this season as he fell down the pecking order at Ashton Gate.

Like Martin, Klose would bring a great deal of experience with him to Coventry as he has featured on 128 occasions in the Championship during his career.

Klose helped Norwich City achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2019 by making 3.8 clearances and 1.2 tackles per game as he recorded a respectable average WhoScored match rating of 6.85 in the second-tier.

By replicating these displays for Coventry, the defender could help the club achieve a relative amount of success between now and the end of the season.

The former Norwich man’s arrival at the Coventry Building Society Arena may also force the likes of Luke McNally, Jonathan Panzo and Callum Doyle to step up their performance levels.
