Former Gunners Rob Holding and Joe Willock have been ruled out for their respective clubs through injury, with Willock out for the season.

Former Arsenal first-team players Rob Holding and Joe Willock have had rotten luck with injuries this season, and that looks set to continue with a month left of the campaign.

Holding joined Crystal Palace from Arsenal in September, but he’s only made one appearance on the pitch in the season so far – a League Cup fixture against Manchester United.

Having spent the last few months out injured, Holding returned to the bench for Palace against West Ham United on Sunday. But days later, he’s been ruled out again.

Dom Smith reports that Holding will miss tomorrow’s match against Newcastle United with a hamstring injury, and he’s likely to miss the Fulham game at the weekend as well.

Palace only have a few more games after that, facing Manchester United, Wolves, and Aston Villa in May.

As for Willock, the former Arsenal midfielder has picked up his third serious injury of the season.

Willock began the campaign with a hamstring problem, keeping him out until late November. After six appearances for Newcastle, the 24-year-old suffered an Achilless issue, ruling him out until late February.

This time, Willock managed a run of eight games, but he’s now been ruled out again.

“We don’t think [he’ll play again this season],” Eddie Howe told the media. “With Joe, we’ve decided that a period of rest, or a period strengthening the area around his Achilles, would benefit him more.

“We went to see a specialist and they said we had a few options. He could continue to play but I think the longer-term view was taken. Surgery wouldn’t be beneficial to his situation.”

In other injury news, Arsenal title rival Liverpool have been dealt a blow as Diogo Jota has been ruled out for two weeks.

Jota had scored for Jurgen Klopp’s side at the weekend, but he’ll now miss the Merseyside derby on Wednesday, the trip to West Ham United on Saturday, and likely the visit of Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday.
